Prologue

In a time so long ago that perhaps not even the Aboleth would remember it, and before the entity known as Zon-Kuthon emerged from the Outer Darkness, Rovagug sought to destroy the world.

In a rare showing of solidarity, all the gods stood together to defeat him. Good and lawful deities, deities of chaos, and even fellow evil deities banded together in a large and unlikely alliance to forever bind or destroy The Rough Beast.

Unable to destroy him, Sarenrae, the goddess of healing and light, sliced open a hole in the world with her scimitar, opening the center of the world. The Archdevil, Asmodeus, bound him into the center of the world, locking the Beast away with the key that only the Prince of Darkness himself keeps. Then, in a final act to seal Rovagug away, Sarenrae took a portion of the sun and locked it in the same cell, forever tormenting and suppressing the power of the deity.

Rovagug, the deity of Chaos, Evil, Destruction, and War, now resides weakened in the center of the world, waiting for his chance to emerge as his minions, influenced by the madness and chaos of The Rough Beast, work towards finding a way to awaken him. Being one of the few religions that is outright banned in all regions, it is very difficult for his followers to gain much ground in society, but in many different locations, secret societies dedicated to the mad worship of this Destroyer exist, and the more remote the location, the better.
