Had a thought in the IRC. Those who join would have an easier time being involved in future arcs due to gaining reknown from being a part of such a popular event. So, obviously, everyone should join. :P

I'm sure I could work Ironfire into participating. Using it to show off his own work or something.

I don't have any fighters among my OCs right now, but if they could be involved as spectators or organizers or something else, that would be fun. Maybe Striker could help out with special effects for an opening ceremony of some sort? If you're only looking for competitors, though, that's fine.

Anyone is welcome to show up just to spectate, and any cool ideas anyone might have for something to add to the tournament are welcome as well. An opening ceremony sounds fun and fitting! :)

From what you've been saying, I guess I've got no choice but to join despite some reluctance towards the pony vs pony part of the tournament.

Interest will be expressed on behalf of myself, but there are a few questions that I have:

1. How are the fights going to be managed in a way that is not going to lead to bitter tastes in mouths afterwards? Is it going to be a managed RNG that is overseen by a third party to confirm if attacks hit or miss? Do fighters have to choose what they allow themselves to be hit by?

2. What are the IC rules to these fights? Is magic allowed? Are weapons allowed? What is keeping this fight 'safe'? Is it MMA rules where it is knockout, referee intervention, tap out, or judge decision after a set number of rounds?

3 What are the OOC rules of these fights? How are fights decided in who wins or loses? Does the decision of who wins go to a third party, is it decided by a popularity contest, how well the RNG worked out for one character, or is it decided between the players?

This might seem like a lot of questions, but this is purely for my understanding. I have been in and witnessed 'fight-themed' threads go horribly sideways IC and overly dramatic OOC, and I would wish for those kind of things to avoid happening here.

1. Lots of communication and a very clear zero tolerance attitude from me. I was hoping we could all just communicate with each other and decide either before hand or partway through the fight what the outcome will be, but a RNG could be implemented to decide on more tricky issues where people disagree. The problem with that method though is that it could completely dismiss a very well thought out and interesting post as being a complete and utter failure, something that could be avoided through collab instead of a number. I would encourage a fair and simple give and take exchange of punishment, and from what I've gathered from the people interested no one is in the mind set of forcing their way into winning as it is, but I am looking to add a few other elements to try and make darn sure there won't be any seriously hurt feelings. This is the most important thing to me during this as this is meant to be a fun thing for the RPers instead of a serious drama filled competition. That can be reserved for the characters themselves.

2. Magic and weapons are allowed, though there shouldn't be anything from my characters at least that would prevent, say for example, an earth pony from winning despite their lack of the former. What's keeping the fights safe is a strong field of magic over the tournament that prevents any kind of lethal blow or life threatening injury. It doesn't make the competitors immune to *any* injury, fatigue or to pain itself, both being important factors in fights of course, but it does insure that no one will die either in the fight, later because of it, or suffer a crippling and permanent injury. The rules are the general kinds of rules you can expect from this kind of event, ie KO, TKO, down for a ten count, etc. Judges are an idea I've been discussing with someone else recently, and may be adding for both more flavor and to open stuff up for others. If judges are included then they will be instructed to use the same criteria as MMA judges when deciding the victor(aggressiveness, damage dealt and so on). Judges, I'm hoping, wouldn't be needed unless a fight ends without a more decisive conclusion such as a KO, so I still encourage any PC vs PC to work things out.

3. Maybe(judges if needed), no, still iffy on the RNG if only because it can very easily feel unfair, and only if both RPers agree and are comfortable with an outcome they both collab towards.

Blegh. I woke up shortly before writing this, so if I didn't make sense somewhere just let me know. Also, I'm still open to any ideas anyone may have for the tournament, both in how to ensure fairness and just if they think something would be cool to include.

I would like to be part of this, but I'm not entirely sure how I would get Mesa involved. I don't know if she'd be good enough to compete, especially since crossbows aren't particularly suited for really close-range fighting. But I do have one question, sorry if this has already been mentioned and I just missed it: is there some type of pre-rounds or competitions that a character would have to participate in to be able to compete in the tournament?

I was thinking about having there be a short series of preliminary rounds being held to screen the actual competitors from those who wouldn't stand a chance(like some NPCs or something), but I just wasn't sure if you guys would have found that interesting enough to include. It is something I'd want to have because it would obviously make sense to have it, but I wouldn't want to bore everyone right at the beginning. Could also be used as a way to introduce everyone to each other and learn things too. Would you guys be okay or interested in that?

You can expect Fox to be there.
