The day was calm. Peaceful, distant sounds sailed through the air. graceful birdsong, the wind gently blowing through the trees. Sound Wrecker sat in the kitchen of his new home, by the open window, eyes to the clouds in the sky. Today was his first full day living alone. He had arrived in Ponyville early in the night, and had spent the remainder of it making himself at home, unpacking his belongings, and finally falling asleep so late it was in fact early morning time. He'd only woken up a few hours ago, well past midday.
Well, this was just what I had been hoping for, Sound thought to himself, evaluating his new residence. Ponyville was much quieter than his old home, but not too far from anything. The house itself matched the same criteria, roughly halfway between the town centre and the outskirts. Yep, perfect... Everything he could ever want here...
...So why did he miss Canterlot...?
The sunlight faded, flickering wildly, and Sound was dragged from his thoughts back to reality. Looking up to the Sun, he noticed what was disrupting the flow of light; two or three Pegasi silhouettes, floating in the sky, evidently in conversation with each other. Moments passed, and it seemed that they had decided to go somewhere together, flying westward, away from Sound's home, to the town centre.
Perhaps I just need to get out of the house, his thoughts restarted, after a small pause. It would do some good to take a walk. See the sights. Familiarise himself with the area. Slowly clambering to his hooves, Sound made his way out of the kitchen, through the main room, and out of the door.
A mild hubbub filled the town centre, as mares and colts tended various market stalls, making purchases for their needs and wants, from vegetables for whatever they were going to have for dinner, to fancy little trinkets that happened to catch their eye. Overhead, the occasional Pegasus would make their landing or take to the skies, to and from all sorts of directions. A look of wonder slowly washed over Sound's face. All this was... almost exactly like home here. Just less... busy. Less scary. More manageable. Canterlot was utter chaos compared to this, almost violent by comparison, in fact. Ponies would shove past you without so much as a 'excuse me', and glare at you as if it was your fault for being in their way. Everypony seemed much more gracious here, from what Sound could overhear in other conversations. He even found the odd smile being thrown his way, even from shopkeeps as he walked past their market stall, despite him not stopping to buy anything.
After some time, deciding he wanted to take some time to rest, Sound came to a tree, perfectly shielding the ground beneath it from the sunlight ahead, which was getting to be quite warm now. He made his way to sit down in the cool shade, continuing to take in the sights of the area. He slowly lowered his head, laying it to rest in the soft grass, the lack of sleep from last night starting to catch up to him. Perhaps he could just... rest his eyes a little... for a few moments...
