Practice at the Park
« on: September 17, 2014, 11:47:41 am »
Dark Matter strolls leisurely through the park. It's a rather nice day outside; the sun is shining, but there's just enough of a cloud cover that the heat doesn't become oppresive. The light breeze is rather enjoyable, too, caressing the grass in barely-visible waves and causing just the faintest whisper as tree leaves brush against each other. He would have to remember to thank the next weather patrol pegasus he talks to.

On his back he's wearing the cloak Rarity so generously gifted to him. The base is a dark, rich crimson, but it only shows through on the inside lining and the edges of the outside. Atop it, the cloth shows a patter of subdued greens and browns, with just a tasteful touch or two of bright orange. The lining itself is quite nice as well, a minky-soft material that he can feel will trap heat quite nicely in the autumn months. In the back is a slit, allowing his tail to stick out above where a clever fold in the fabric allows the two pieces to overlap almost seemlessly with each other.

He's quite fond of it already, although he does sort of miss the more familiar feel of his old one.

Dark Matter comes to a tree, under which he sits. After considering for a moment, he starts running through a few basic illusions to get himself warmed up, rapidly shifting the color of the grass around him through the spectrum once or twice before setting a basic color wheel to spin around him twice. Satisfied with the result, he lets it revert to its natural hue.

Having finished his warm-ups, he begins the actual practice. Slowly, a shape begins to form in front of him, gradually taking the form of a small sapling. His concentration is such that it's unlikely he'd notice if anything was happening around him.
All exists in darkness, save light; how can you call light more wondrous?
