The Worst Filly
« on: August 07, 2014, 07:41:53 am »
After trekking back to where her house should be there lay a wondrously designed mansion fit for a princess, or a pony that thinks she's a princess. This of course, to Brash, meant that her home was replaced by this 'thing' and taken elsewhere, there was no other possibility.

Brash began interrogating ponies in the street as to whether or not had seen a house that looks like the perfect hideout for devious doings in the general vicinity. Of course no certain answers were given and Brash made it clear she never wanted to speak to these uncertain ponies ever again.

After a while she finds herself lost in a stretch of Ponyville she doesn't recognize, being avoided by the general populace. She simply stands there and wonders where her plans went wrong.

Dark Matter is already halfway out the front door before he realizes that he's forgotten to put his cape on. Oh well, he reasons, I'd probably just attract attention for no reason. He decides to leave it, giving the sun full access to his dull blue coat and black mane and tail. Feeling rather naked, he almost decides to run back in and get it, but by then he's to the road and would just look foolish.

Strolling overly casually towards the market square, he manages to avoid contact with most of the ponies he passes, but does feel forced to give a smile and nod to the occasional mare or stallion that manages to come too close.

He eventually comes to a stretch where most ponies seem to be using one side and avoiding the other, for whatever reason. Dark Matter decides to risk passing the small grey filly who seems to be the sole occupant rather than deal with the comparatively crowded other side.

Thinking about it the loss of her house means her life's work is gone as well, but her train of thought is disrupted as a stallion approaches her. Now infuriated at the possible loss of her project she stomps up to her next victim, Dark Matter. "You! Have you seen a broken down house? Missing windows, smashed up door frame, emanates a general aura of un-safety to make sure ponies like you stay away from it!" Brash pauses and glares at the stallion, "And don't give me any nonsense about not having seen it, an entire house was moved sometime in the past few hours."

Dark Matter gives a start before stopping in his tracks as the grey filly stomps towards him. When she begins speaking, he spares a quick glance to make sure she's not addressing anypony else. "M-me?" He thinks for a moment, not quite managing to meet the filly's gaze evenly. "W-well, I do recall a house like that being around here, but I just recently departed my house not a few minutes ago; I'm afraid if somepony had moved it, I wouldn't have..."

He blinks. Did he hear that right? And then say it, too? He raises an eyebrow quizzically. "I beg your pardon, did you just claim that somepony moved a house?"

"Yeah." Brash quickly responds, before gathering that the stallion must not believe her. "It was where I left it and now it's not, so it's obviously been moved. Don't get dense with me!" She barks.

Brash begins to pace about in front of the stallion, but keeps her eyes on him. "And don't tell me you didn't even hear anything! It was an entire house being ripped from its spot!"

Dark matter watches the pacing filly quizzically. "Well, I suppose stranger things have happened, as the saying goes. I have no recollection of seeing or hearing anything of the sort, however; are you sureyou didn't simply look in the wrong place for it?"

By now the quaver was out of his voice, and he had found his rhythm he was comfortable using when conversing. He still wished he had his cape, though he wouldn't be surprised if this filly would just use it to suggest he may have done something with it.

Brash growls, "Do I look dumb to you?" She stops and points her snout to the sky, "I've drawn maps of Ponyville. Furthermore it's my house, I think I'd know where it's supposed to be."

"It can't just go missing, I have my whole life's work in there." Brash huffs, "And none of you common folk even have a clue! Just leave, I'll find it myself! Gah!" But instead of heading anywhere Brash simply sits down, having no leads on where to go.

Dark Matter shrugs and begins a step to do just as the filly suggests, but stops. On the one hoof, she's rude and quite clearly deluded; on the other, she's clearly upset and could probably use some company. It's not like he has anywhere important to be. Besides, what if she's right? It might make an interesting story, and his uncle is always on the lookout for those.

He turns back to the filly, hoping she isn't good enough at reading faces to tell that the apologetic look on his face might be just a bit patronizing. "I'm terribly sorry, miss; perhaps if we return to the scene of the crime, we may be able to find some clues?"

"I suppose," Brash stands, "But I don't think we we'll find much seeing as somepony put some ugly thing in its place." Brash begins to lead the way to her house.

She looks back at Dark Matter, "You especially won't find a thing worthwhile, but it'll be nice to have somepony around I can be comparatively better than." She raises her snout again as she trots along, only pausing to remember which turns she'd need to take.

Dark Matter resists the urge to snicker as he follows, but his smirk is as plain as day to see. "I look forward to providing a contrast to your brilliant skills and intellect."

"As you should." Brash quickens her pace. After a bit she turns the corner that brings her home into view, though she's still unwilling to believe such a thing to be her place of residence.

The house had been fixed up, no longer anything visibly broken. Unlike its former state it's more in line with the houses around it, yet it sports a much richer look, elegant curtains and awnings with an archway as its entrance.

"Blech, look at that, deplorable, truly." She points a hoof at the place. "Whomever took my home had really poor taste." Continuing to it she then says, "Though I guess there'll be clues to the culprit inside."

Dark Matter slowed as he came within view of the residence. "Wh..." This place looked pretty magnificent. He shook his head before taking a look up and down the street. Yes, this was where he remembered the dilapidated house to be, alright, but it didn't seem nearly so far-fetched now that it could have been replaced completely.

Dark Matter shook his head one more time. Gawking won't do anything productive. "I think we may have some rather different ideas of poor taste, though I am forced to admit that it certainly is different. I suppose inside would indeed be the best place to look." He walked toward the front door and reached forward to open it. "After you, milady."

Brash quickly darts inside by smashing the door open before Dark Matter can touch it, expecting to catch somepony in the house, but once in she trips over herself and rolls along the floor ending up on her back. The roll results in only a small grunt and Brash remains otherwise unfazed, "They have the gall to replace my house and then leave theirs undefended."

She gets back on her hooves and looks towards the front window curtains, "I still need my old place but we should teach these hooligans a lesson. Trash everything you can find!" She jumps at the curtains and bites onto them, thrashing, growling, and flailing, but never succeeding in even putting a rip in them.

"Hey!", Dark Matter exclaims, walking forward and attempting to pull the filly away from the curtain with his admittedly weak telekinesis. "Just because they replaced your house doesn't..."

He blinks. "Wait, YOUR house? I thought this place was abandoned." He thinks again for a moment before shaking his head again. Such a surreal experience this is. "Whatever. Regardless, I'm sure this has all been some misunderstanding. So can we avoid smashing things at least until we know what's going on?"

"Of course MY house... abandoned..." Brash thinks as she's pulled away from the curtain. Looking around Brash locates a hatch on the floor in the far corner. Then she runs up the stairs and checks the second floor. Back down she darts into the kitchen. With a frustrated growl she trots back into the main room, "This wasn't a theft, my house has been vandalized!" She runs back to the same curtain and bites onto it repeating the prior scene.
