Canterlot / Re: Lone Wanderer
« on: October 09, 2014, 09:07:20 pm »
The cornflour-blue sorceress turned without reluctance to Ironfire's companion as the stallion introduced the pair, the showmare setting down the stack of posters at her side as she approached, head held high, expression proud, hoof extended and lavender eyes curious.

"Trixie is charmed to meet you as well, Talyserra. Trixie confesses that she has never seen a Night Guardsman up close before. Perhaps not as intimidating as she first expected.." The sorceress commented, her voice first warm and welcoming, before her tone became one more centred on curiosity, the showmare talking almost under her breath as she examined the golden-eyed bat-pony.

Introductions made, the proud showmare stepped back a little, flicking her silvery mane back into its proper place with an elegant flourish, the mare opening her eyes to speak in response to the guardsmare's questioning, tone proud.

"Ironfire is assisting me in the placement of posters, advertising my next show in Canterlot. Here; avail yourself of one, if you wish. You're certainly very welcome to attend. As are you, Ironfire, if you recall.." Trixie replied, separating one of the posters from the stack as she did so, and floating it over to the curious bat-pony, her proud tone edging into one that was slowly approaching smugness, as she turned to speak to the blacksmith again, watching the interaction between him and Talyserra with veiled interest.

As Trixie travelled Canterlot's many twisting streets, winding through alleyways and down side streets, and making her way down main roads, posting up posters everywhere she went, the cornflour-blue mare slowly, ever so slowly, came to the realization that she was, in fact, utterly lost.

It was her own fault, she supposed; heading off so eagerly into what was a relatively unfamiliar city, like an excited filly in an amusement park. Although it was true she had been able to put up posters all over the fine city by travelling like this, it did unfortunately mean that she now had no idea about how to find her way back to the side street where she had parked her cart, other than continuing to wander aimlessly until night fell; an idea that the magical showmare didn't exactly relish.

That was why, when her rather worried lavender eyes settled on the familiar, fire-red mane of a certain unicorn blacksmith, heading away from her current position, Trixie felt such as palpable sense of relief, the mare letting out a long, relieved sigh, as she trotted quickly in his direction, pulling up alongside the muscular stallion with a warm smile, trying hard to restrain what would ordinarily be a wide grin of pure relief and happiness, so focused on the stallion that she failed to notice the gently-flushing mare who floated alongside him.

"The great Trixie is beyond relieved to see you again, Ironfire! Trixie's placement of posters goes well, although she admits that she is now unfortunately unable to locate where she left her cart.. How go your own efforts?" The silver-haired magician spoke, an inquisitive smile on her face as she did so, her horn still sparking gently with lavender magic, as she levitated the remainder of the posters by her side.

Canterlot / Precisely Placing Perfect Posters Posthaste!
« on: October 04, 2014, 12:42:15 pm »
With a flourish of sparkling lavender magic, the large poster was placed proudly, looking down from its place of prominence onto the passer-by, it's stylish font, eye-catching design and elegantly-flowing letters, proudly proclaiming to all who would stop to read:

Come one, Come all, to witness the unparalleled, showstopping, awe-inspiring performance that is: Trixie's Tales!

In the evening, in Canterlot Square, Trixie, the Storyteller, will weave a once well-known Equestrian legend to the crowd! Her performance will be aided by her illusory magic, in order to enhance the crowd's immersion in the narrative, and improve their experience overall!

The tales told by the travelling Trixie, will be taken from the legends of old, when Equestria was young, and not as peaceful and safe as it is now. They will be tales of high adventure, immense battles, grand victories and epic quests, where the fate of many will hang in the balance!

Entry to the event is a mere 3 bits, and foals are welcome to attend for free, with their families.

Trixie surveyed her work with a faint smirk, the brilliant-azure mare, her starry cape and hat absent, briefly scrutinizing the poster to determine whether or not it had been placed at all crooked (no error could be accepted, no matter how minute!), before, with a hum, she turned on the spot and set off once more, the stack of posters levitating beside her in the same gentle lavender glow.

Today was the day, finally, that the great Trixie would have her redemption! No more ridicule and spite! No more malicious rumours, and questions as to the veracity of her amazing talents!

Trixie was so excited she almost felt giddy, but she suppressed the feeling as best she could. Now was not the time for foalish antics; this was the time for focus, for action, and most importantly, for poster hanging.

After all, how would her first show in the grand city have any soon-to-be adoring fans, if they didn't even know it existed?

General Discussion / Sorry, everyone.
« on: October 03, 2014, 09:49:47 am »
Hi guys.
It's been a while, to say the least.

Just wanted to say first of all that I'm really sorry for vanishing, and for not dropping in to tell everyone where I went, or why I was gone.

Suffice to say things got rather hectic for a long while, and the amount of work I had to do, combined with the ever-increasing amount of RP I needed to pay attention to, eventually gave out in favour of not failing my first year units.

I didn't come back since then, partially because I was slowly beginning to see keeping up with so many threads as more chore than entertainment, and partially because I was worried I wouldn't exactly be welcome if I did come back.

Just wanted to say again that I'm sorry for vanishing like I did and leaving so many threads in stasis, and that I'm considering coming back, but for the time being (if I do come back, and am allowed to) I'll focus on only one character, probably the Great and Powerful Trixie.

Once again, apologies for everything. Although I'm still kinda busy, I should have the time to post enough, so long as I don't get involved in more than one thread at a time.

Cherry.

"And you as well, Ironfire." Trixie replied, turning her head to smile thankfully at the stallion behind her, before she began to make her way towards the more noble and artistic districts of Canterlot, in search of places to hang her posters.

"Very well, Trixie will keep that in mind, Ironfire. It would be good to know where your forge is, anyway, in case she ever requires the services of a skilled blacksmith. For now though, goodbye." The azure mare replied, smiling widely at the stallion as he scooped up some posters, her own magic picking up the rest and levitating them towards her, as she turned and set off into the streets of Canterlot, a smile of anticipation on her pretty face.

"Indeed, Trixie hopes that we can meet again to discuss this further. A few hours certainly sounds reasonable, it will give T-, Me, time to search the city at a more leisurely pace." Trixie replied, smiling pleasantly at the stallion assisting her, and, after a momentary hesitation, offering an azure hoof to the stallion, as he introduced himself, her own smile one of genuine happiness to have met a pony so helpful within minutes of entering the grand city.

"Trixie assures you shall be fine on her lonesome. Sh-.. I, am less recognizable without the hat and cape, which I shall leave here. I doubt I am going to draw much attention, simply placing posters about the city." Trixie replied, still smiling, as she carefully removed her robes and hat, which she folded with care, and placed into her folded up stage/home, for safekeeping.

Trixie's smile slowly widened as the stallion before her spoke, the stage mare lost for a moment in fantasies of the respect and admiration she could earn, through the telling of grand tales, old and new.

Shaking her head a little to clear it, the azure mare refocused on the stallion in front of her, and nodded graciously in response to his plans, her smile widening in excitement once more.
"Tr-.. I, am glad to hear that someone who knows so much about this fine city will be distributing some of the posters. Hopefully, if I place some in the theatre districts, as well as the areas you described, the turnout for the first performance, and it's success, will be enough to convince the ponies of Canterlot, and indeed, of Equestria, of Trixie's legitimacy as a teller of grand tales." The cornflour blue-maned mare replied, momentarily lost in her thoughts of success again, if the mildly dreamlike look in her dark violet eyes, was an accurate indication.

Having already addressed many of the issues Iron had brought up, Trixie only frowned a little as he continued, before refocusing as he complimented the idea behind her new act, causing her to smile a little, in reply.

"I would certainly appreciate assistance in the placement of posters, as Trixie is unsure where exactly her advertisements would be best placed in order to attract attention. In repayment, would you accept free entrance into the next show? I'll be sure to reserve a spot with a better view for you, this time." The azure mare replied, smiling gratefully in response to his offer, her expression slowly returning to the one of hopeful excitement that it had been upon her arrival in the grand city.

"Trixie.. Is aware of what you, and the rest of Canterlot, must think of her. However, Trixie is happy to inform you that she has no intention to run her: 'Usual Routine'. In fact, Trixie has undergone some deep thinking, following events in Ponyville, which have resulted in a considerable change to her.. I mean My, act." The magician replied, her stance relaxing a little, as she realized he wasn't here to harm her, although it was still less relaxed than it had been before.

"Here, avail yourself of one of the posters Tri-.. I, intend to place around the city to deter the rumour-mills, and neigh-sayers of this fine city." The azure mare finished, her smile returning a little, as she turned back to her stage to dig out an rather eye-catching poster, which she levitated over to the blacksmith without another word.

It was written in large, elegant, stylishly written letters. The poster itself displayed the back of an ancient tome, studded with small crystal stars, and with purple lettering the same colour as her robes:

Come one, Come all, to witness the unparalleled, showstopping, awe-inspiring performance that is: Trixie's Tales!

Trixie had heard the stallion's hoofsteps before he had spoken, and by the time he had announced his presence, her dark violet eyes were already turned in his direction, an eyebrow raised high enough to show curiosity, without appearing too snobbish or challenging.

"Yes? It is indeed with Trixie that you speak. The more important question might be why you've decided to do so." The azure mare replied, voice almost a little defensive, with her reputation as a wizard in tatters after the Ponyville incident, it was unlikely this pale stallion was a fan, or here to wish her well, and that was obvious by the quick change her expression had undergone, from hopeful and excited, to defensive and slightly suspicious, as she eyed the stallion up and down, as if determining whether or not he was here to do harm.

It was with her head held high that The Great and Powerful Trixie entered Canterlot City, her dark violet eyes scanning the beautiful sights of Equestria's capital with a mixture of admiration and anticipation, as her stage/home trundled along behind her, it's weight reduced by powerful magics, and compact, foldable design preventing it from taking up too much space on the cobbled streets.

As interesting a sight as her cart was, Trixie had done her best to look Far more outstanding. Her nearly silver, pale cornflour blue mane and tail had been carefully combed and styled, her trademark purple, star-studded robes and hat were as perfectly clean as ever, and her brilliant azure coat was utterly unmarred.

All in all, striding purposefully throughout Canterlot's streets with her head, and pointed hat, raised, and her stage at her back, she seemed every bit the confident, powerful magician she had claimed to be.

However, although much of her pride remained, Trixie had learned the lessons of that humbling, humiliating day in Ponyville, well. As much as she believed herself to be Great and Powerful; she had many equals, and a few superiors, and her newfound (relative) humility had helped her to learn another important lesson.

The world did not revolve around the Great and Powerful Trixie, much as she would have liked it to. There were other tales to tell, other stories both grander and better-loved than her own half-truths and stories of self-embellishment.

With this knowledge securely in hoof, the mare magician had come to a greater realisation, and in doing so had changed her act forever.

Her special talent lay with the use of magic to amaze and entertain, and, as a foal, she had been enchanted by tales of brave heroism and adventure, set in ancient times, before Equestria had been peaceful and safe, as it was now.
And so she had taken her talents in spinning stories, and casting illusions, her love for entertainment and the tales of old, her flare for the dramatic and ability to win over a crowd, and with them she had reformed her act.

She would still thrill the crowds, have them cheer her name, and view her as the powerful mage she was, but no longer would she take centre stage, no longer would she hold the audience's attention for all the wrong reasons, and through all the wrong methods.

Now, Trixie was not just a magician, she was a Storyteller.
Through her magic, and her words, she could captivate audiences with tales old and new, bring crowds into elation and despair, truly immerse them in the narratives playing out before them, stories which may have fallen into obscurity over the years, and deserved to be celebrated once again.

These thoughts filling her head with visions of cheering crowds, epic tales, and fame and fortune, Trixie Lulamoon smiled widely, eyes bright with excitement, as she parked her stage somewhere it would remain in relative obscurity from the ponies of Canterlot. For now.
