"Trixie huh?" Lamplight had been to that show too, and had quite enjoyed it, though the showmare's treatment of her "volunteers" might have been a little harsh. They had been heckling her though, so she couldn't blame the mare too much. "She was pretty impressive." Lamplight agrees, and deciding they probably shouldn't just stand around outside all night, opens the inn door and steps inside while still listening to Nightingale talk. She shrugs a little at the filly's idle wondering about why her cutie mark was what it was. "They're not always as straightforward as mine." She says, walking over to one of the booths to let Nightingale slide off her back. "I don't look that old do I?" She asks in a mock hurt voice. "I'm only twenty-six, and I hate those types. Just seems like it's no fun at all." She chuckles at Nightingale's dislike of Equestria's newest princess, though doesn't comment on it. "So what's this masterpiece of yours, or is it a secret?"

"That'd be great!" Lamplight says, and then brings her hoof to tap against her chin. "Hrm... Maybe we could also have ghosts pop out of it or something? Though... would you have to do that manually?" Lamplight isn't too sure just how illusions normally work, but the filly seemed to have needed to concentrate on them earlier... "That would be fun, I only really know how to do the lanterns right now. I'm sure I could cook up a lot of cool things to go along with them with illusions." She shrugs at Nightingale's comment about only really knowing how to do sight at the moment. "I'm sure you'll get it all down eventually. How long have you been doing this anyway?"

Lamplight smiles at Nightingale's amazement of her lantern, glad for the sudden change in attitude. "I can do different kinds, though they're a little harder than the default one." She says, gesturing to the lantern that's already there before concentrating a little and conjuring a pair of other ones: a paper lantern and a more rounded one, which would disappear again after a couple minutes. "I can already change the colors a little." She comments, demonstrating by turning to the original lantern and using her magic to shift the color from it's original hue towards red, and then the other way to more yellow. "That's about it for me though, so some other colors would be pretty neat if you want to do that." She chuckles, looking back at Nightingale. "Maybe we could change it up for holidays? As for teaching you... Well, I've never really done anything like that before, but I could give it a try."

Lamplight smiles at the compliment, picking up the pace a little so Nightingale can get a closer look. "Thank you. I put a lot of work into getting that set up." She stops when Nightingale asks if she's a lantern wizard, still a short distance from the inn. "I guess I kind of am." She answers with a small chuckle, and her horn lights up as she uses her magic to conjure a floating lantern with a small *pop*. "It's basically the same as that, but I had to put a lot more magic and effort into it, and it needs to be recharged every couple months." She starts walking again, it only taking a short while before they're in front of the inn. Lamplight moves the smaller lantern to hover next to the large one, allowing Nightingale to compare. The bigger one is slightly more ornate, with what appears to be gold leaf inlaid in a simple pattern climbing up the sides.

Lamplight watches Nightingale for several moments, remaining crouched until it becomes clear the filly isn't going to get off. She stands again, and after a second to make sure Nightingale is properly balanced, continues walking. "I do have a room free. The bed should be plenty comfortable." She comments, then walks in silence until the little unicorn speaks up again. "I'm Lamplight." She takes a look at the filly on her back for a moment. "I'm surprised we haven't run into each other before, if you do this often. I come out and walk almost every night." She looks around as she turns down a different street. It wouldn't be long now before the inn was in sight, they only have one more turn to make after this. "It's called the Guiding Light. It's a little bit out of the way, so you might have not visited this part of town before." She smiles, and stops for a second as they round the next corner, the inn now in sight. "It's hard to miss though." She says, gesturing in an exaggeratedly grandiose manner toward the building with the large glowing lantern hanging beneath it's sign. "It's pretty fun." She answers, setting off again. "A lot of work too, though it's usually worth it."

Lamplight looks back at Agilene again when the mare falls silent, then glances at Nightingale when the filly hangs her head. She looks forward again, and frowns as she keeps walking, listening to Nightingale explain why she was out here tonight. It sounds like a pretty terrible place to Lamplight, she wouldn't want somepony controlling her whole life either, and it sounded terribly boring. She sighs slightly and stops walking, though they're still a ways from her inn. With another look back at Nightingale the mare crouches low to the ground, so Nightingale can slide off her back easily. "I'm sorry." She says with another sigh. "I still think you should come rest at the inn for a while, but I'm not going to force you."

With a small sigh and a bit of shifting to make sure Nightingale was on her back properly, Lamplight turns in the direction of her inn, though she keeps her head turned toward Agilene. "I can handle it for now. You're welcome to come along though." The orange mare looks at Nightingale for just a moment before looking away. "I really just want to help..." She mutters, most likely too quiet for the filly to hear. She starts walking, and after a few minutes turns her head so she can see Nightingale again. "What are you doing out here so late anyway? It's past midnight..."

Lamplight nods and walks closer to Nightingale, who's still attempting to crawl away. "I just want to help..." She says, putting her hoof across Nightingale's shoulders again. "You can come back to my inn to rest for a while, um..." She looks back at Agilene, a bit unsure what to say. The filly really doesn't seem like she's going to be cooperative, and they definitely can't just leave her out here... The orange mare sighs. Not a whole lot of options here. "We can't just leave you out in the street..." She says, grimacing slightly. "Sorry, but we need to go..." She wraps her hooves around Nightingale and lifts her off the ground, keeping a firm grip despite the young unicorn's struggles. With a bit of effort, She manages to deposit Nightingale on her back to carry her more easily, and prevent the filly from climbing or falling off with some help from her magic. She turns back to Agilene. "Well... I guess we should get going then?"

Lamplight nods. Of course they couldn't just leave Nightingale out here by herself. Still, if the filly really hates the orphanage that much she'll be loathe to force her to go back there in her current state. She turns to look at Nightingale, who's slowly attempting to crawl away from them. While what the filly had said about them not wanting to be responsible for her might have been true, it doesn't stop Lamplight from wanting to help the little unicorn out. And she still feels like dragging her back to the orphanage against her will won't really do that. Besides... "I don't know where the orphanage is." She says to Agilene, looking back at the pegasus. "And I don't think she'll be willing to take us there." She takes a few steps after Nightingale, easily catching up to the filly, who seemed to be singing to herself quietly, though Lamplight can't make out the words. "Um... How about this. I own an inn, so we could take her back there for a while until she calms down?" It was really the only thing the orange mare could think of, other than maybe taking her to the guards. And she really doesn't want to have to do that.

Lamplight's expression shifts to a frown briefly when Nightingale claims they don't actually care, though it quickly goes back to worried. "Why wouldn't we care?" She asks, glancing back at Agilene when Nightingale mentions the orphanage and how much she hates it. She'd never visited an orphanage herself, but it doesn't sound to her like a very good place to live. She can't just leave the filly out here though. It's pretty unlikely the little illusionist is supposed to be out here this late. Lamplight turns to look at Agilene. "What do you think we should do?"

Nightingale's insistence that she doesn't need help does little to ease Lamplight's mind, the mare looking concernedly at the filly. "You've only run out of magic, you'll be fine after a bit of a rest." She says, putting on her best soothing voice. She looks up at Agilene at the mare's question and shakes her head. "I haven't seen her before." She says, and turns her attention back to Nightingale. Since she doesn't know the filly, it'd probably be best to find out who she is so they can get her home. "What's your name? I'm Lamplight."

Despite Nightingale's assurance that she's fine, Lamplight isn't convinced. She's seen magical exhaustion before, and from what she can tell it's what's happening to Nightingale. She take another step closer, glancing over at Agilene, who doesn't seem to realize the creatures are illusions. She's about to say something, attempt to get the disguised filly to stop what she's doing before her magic gives out altogether. She's too late though, and Nightingale's illusions disappear in the same instant the glow from her horn does, revealing her real appearance. Lamplight leans down and puts a hoof on the filly's shoulder, a look of concern on her face. "Hey." She says, her voice soft. "It's okay, you're going to be fine."

Lamplight, for the most part, sits back and just gazes at the night sky as Ivory and Schwambart talk, not wanting to appear like she's listening in on their conversation. She can't help but smile at their awkwardness, though. It was obviously the first time Schwambart at least had done anything like this, and she hopes he can get over his nerves being around the noctral. They already seem pretty cute together, and she'd hate for something like that to ruin it for them. When Ivory calls her name, she returns her attention to the white coated mare, giving a bright smile. "You know I wouldn't miss these shows, especially one like tonight!" She says, standing up and suppressing a yawn. She glances up at the moon, noting that it's starting to get quite late. "If it's even better than tonight's was, I can't wait to see it!" She's tempted to ask what Ivory has planned, but she doesn't really want to ruin the surprise.

Ponyville / NN: Something Sweet to Bite

Lamplight steps out the door of the Guiding Light, taking a deep breath of the crisp evening air. The night was only just beginning, and already she could detect the delicious scent of a variety of baked goods being set out by vendors, the perfect snack for the crowds of ponies who would be out celebrating. A wide smile curls the orange mare's lips. Nightmare Night! When ponies of all ages dress up and go out into the night to party or in search of candy treats. She's no different, of course, dressed in a long black coat and wide brimmed hat. A goggled, beaked mask would complete the look, once she puts it on. For now though, it just hangs at her neck. She glances back at the inn for a moment. It was closed for now, but later in the night she'll be hosting a party. But first she wants to go out and have some fun, take part in whatever games there may be, maybe enter a costume contest. She doubts she'll win anything, even now she can see some ponies with more impressive costumes than her own. It'd still be fun though. Turning her back on the tavern, she pulls the mask up to her face and sets off into the night with a spring in her step.

Lamplight watches Nightingale's attack quietly, a slight frown on her face. She still can't quite place where she knows the creatures from. Her eyes follow them as they dart toward Agilene, who avoids them in a display of impressive acrobatic prowess and lands right in front of the filly. Nightingale doesn't seem to be doing too well at this point, the filly suddenly swaying, as though she's about to fall over. At the same time, the summoned creatures and her dark coat flicker. Lamplight blinks in surprise, distracted from considering where she'd seen the summons before. They were illusions. In hindsight she probably should have considered the possibility. A filly being able to summon monsters was a bit far-fetched after all. Glancing at Agilene, Lamplight steps in closer now that it was clear there was no real danger. "Are you okay?" She asks Nightingale.
