"I'm setting my plans into motion." Brash states in reply to the leaking candy comment as she follows Resin, continuing to set her trail of candy. "And that pegasus was my subordinate, she was simply following orders."

Brash then draws a conclusion that peaks her interest, "You're out here alone? I had presumed this was a social event." She'd never been curious about other ponies but hopes she many have found somepony at least somewhat similar to herself as she listens for an answer.

Brash hums and rubs her chin as she mulls over Resin's words. "Nothing so elaborate." She responds, "I simply meant I went through all the trouble to obtain a proper bucket, make primary and secondary costumes for me and my friend, and made plans should we be separated."

Brash turns to head towards the next house, setting another piece of candy on the ground. "Well, if you think this ordeal is fun, I could use a pony to do that tired chant for me so I don't have to wrench the candy out of everyponys' hooves." Ready to make a trail of candy, Brash awaits to see if Resin will lead the way.

Brash's head recedes into her armor, after a moment a loud clang is heard and the armor falls to pieces. "No." Brash answers with a calm sigh as she gets on her hooves. "If I'm not going to win any costume competition, I don't even know why I'm outside." In spite of saying this Brash's coat is dyed green and lined with drawn stitches in area's that were covered by the armor, indicating she may have had plans beyond a contest. She picks up her bucket and examines her surroundings.

Brash places the bucket's handle around her neck and turns to Resin, "Although I can't let my preparations go to waste, I'm lost as to what the appeal of this backwater town holiday is. So far I've just been hurting my head and collecting candy and now I won't even win anything." Brash takes a piece of candy from her bucket and leaves it in the pile of discarded armor.

"Huh? Oh." Brash peels away from her gems and heads into her basement for a moment, returning with a bag of bits that she places before Nightingale. "Your part is done, just a bunch of measuring and weighing left for me to do."

Brash scratches the back of her head awkwardly, "You helped me a lot, even if it wasn't much effort on your part. Any progress on this project is worth more bits to me than I have to offer, so make sure to come to me with something I can help you with someday. I'd rather not feel I'm in your debt."

"Never knew 'er." Brash states as she seems to have finally sorted through the gems, "My father never spoke of her and I never inquired."

Brash gives the ceiling a look before continuing, "Although, I've given a mare room here so long as she acts as a guardian should any situation occur that I require one."

Brash looks over the gems and begins closely examining them, throwing a few back into the sack.

As the balloon appears Brash promptly begins looking through the gems and sorting them into groups with no real expression on whether she was getting proper results. As the light came from the balloon Brash would occasionally put a gem into it, some would glow brilliantly and others would simply block the light from advancing, she further sorted the gems on these reactions.

"I don't spend my money on unnecessary items, I have food, water, metal, and tools. There's no use in fancy pictures on the walls or silver dining sets, the state of my abode is only as such on the outside to protect what's on the inside. So long as nopony thinks my house should be condemned then that's all I care."

Brash paused and looked over to Nightingale before continuing her sorting. "Of course, should any under my employ wish for me to add some things, I have the bits to spare."

"Well so do I." Brash says as she picks up the pace.

Arriving at her now glamorous house, she grumbles and slams the door open. "Just wait in here and I'll be back." She gestures to the rather empty living room which only contains a plain white couch.

Advancing to the corner of the house she opens up a hatch in the floor and disappears down it. After a minute a large sack full of transparent blue gems is propelled out of the hatch and Brash follows behind it. She drags the heavy sack to the middle of the living room and spills its contents to the floor. "Now just make and maintain any simple illusion. If my father's notes are correct I should be able to see through them with some of these."

Brash remains collected amongst the flurry of questions, Carri asked even more questions upon meeting Brash. "Carri Air, is an employee of mine, she helps moving heavy loads of metal and the sort, she also excels at making rudimentary observations about my project." Brash takes a long breath, "The automaton, my father's life work which caused him to succumb to illness due to his obsession. However, I aspire to complete it, using my father's designs and research... As well as my own personal skill of course."

"Anyway, gem sorting should be easy so long as my father's collection has what I need."

"Bits." Brash states flatly. It actually troubles her that Nightingale didn't consider that, but then again Brash was never trying to look like she had bits to spare. "I'll have you know that I come from a rich family and can pay you accordingly for your services."

"Also you'll gain free passage through my abode, as well, once my project is finished you can have it help you with your chores during its testing phase." Brash thinks to offer more but stops there in hopes that'd be enough. However, considering that the help of a light manipulating unicorn is integral to the completion of her project she stands ready to address any problems Nightingale might have.

"Of course MY house... abandoned..." Brash thinks as she's pulled away from the curtain. Looking around Brash locates a hatch on the floor in the far corner. Then she runs up the stairs and checks the second floor. Back down she darts into the kitchen. With a frustrated growl she trots back into the main room, "This wasn't a theft, my house has been vandalized!" She runs back to the same curtain and bites onto it repeating the prior scene.

Brash quickly darts inside by smashing the door open before Dark Matter can touch it, expecting to catch somepony in the house, but once in she trips over herself and rolls along the floor ending up on her back. The roll results in only a small grunt and Brash remains otherwise unfazed, "They have the gall to replace my house and then leave theirs undefended."

She gets back on her hooves and looks towards the front window curtains, "I still need my old place but we should teach these hooligans a lesson. Trash everything you can find!" She jumps at the curtains and bites onto them, thrashing, growling, and flailing, but never succeeding in even putting a rip in them.

"As you should." Brash quickens her pace. After a bit she turns the corner that brings her home into view, though she's still unwilling to believe such a thing to be her place of residence.

The house had been fixed up, no longer anything visibly broken. Unlike its former state it's more in line with the houses around it, yet it sports a much richer look, elegant curtains and awnings with an archway as its entrance.

"Blech, look at that, deplorable, truly." She points a hoof at the place. "Whomever took my home had really poor taste." Continuing to it she then says, "Though I guess there'll be clues to the culprit inside."

"I suppose," Brash stands, "But I don't think we we'll find much seeing as somepony put some ugly thing in its place." Brash begins to lead the way to her house.

She looks back at Dark Matter, "You especially won't find a thing worthwhile, but it'll be nice to have somepony around I can be comparatively better than." She raises her snout again as she trots along, only pausing to remember which turns she'd need to take.

Brash growls, "Do I look dumb to you?" She stops and points her snout to the sky, "I've drawn maps of Ponyville. Furthermore it's my house, I think I'd know where it's supposed to be."

"It can't just go missing, I have my whole life's work in there." Brash huffs, "And none of you common folk even have a clue! Just leave, I'll find it myself! Gah!" But instead of heading anywhere Brash simply sits down, having no leads on where to go.

"Yeah." Brash quickly responds, before gathering that the stallion must not believe her. "It was where I left it and now it's not, so it's obviously been moved. Don't get dense with me!" She barks.

Brash begins to pace about in front of the stallion, but keeps her eyes on him. "And don't tell me you didn't even hear anything! It was an entire house being ripped from its spot!"
