Star gave a pleasant smile to Hay as he agreed to the game and said it sounded fun to him. Leaning back, Star settled in and relaxed in her seat as much as she could. If she had to take guess, she'd say that Haywire was going to be a fairly easy guess as far as what he was lying about. Which was fine--the game wasn't about 'winning or losing', but more about socializing and getting to know the other pony or ponies. As long as a good time was had, possibly with laughs as well, and everypony learned something knew, then the game was a success. That meant, however, that she'd have to mix in some easy ones for him so he could have a better chance at guessing correctly.

"Let's see, I have two out of three..." Star hummed, gaze lifting towards the ceiling momentarily before she glanced to Haywire. "Okay, here goes. There's a song out there that was written about me, I had a very large plushie collection at one point in my life, and I used to cook for the princesses."

Star nodded amicably as the waiter came back to his senses and lead them over towards a table in the corner. She was pleasantly surprised when she saw the table they were being brough to: it was a cozy little niche, out of the way but still with a wonderful view of the rest of the restaurant. She wondered briefly if that was to keep Haywire in a little corner and away from everything else, but she shrugged that thought off--it was a nice little area, and she was going to appreciate it for as much.

She settled down onto one of the pillows beside Hay, leaving her with a wide open view of the restaurant in front of her as she relaxed, then smiled to the waiter as he handed them their menus. When he mentioned returning shortly with water, she quickly chimed in that she'd like some iced tea instead--before exhaling quietly as he asked Hay not to 'fix' anything. It wasn't worth causing a commotion over so she didn't say anything, but it did still frustrate her a little bit. Instead, she shook her head and watched him for a moment before looking over to Hay as he tried pronouncing one of the items on the menu.

That earned a slight giggle from her as she reached over, gently taking the menu from him before flipping it over so it was right-side up. "It doesn't matter if you can't say the names... You can just point to what you want, and they'll take it from there. And the descriptions under the names tell you what the item is, as long as you're reading the menu right side up, silly," she said, gently nudging him with an elbow before browsing the menu for just a brief moment.

"Oooh, Champignon Parmentier au Gratin," she said fluently once more, pointing to something on the menu that was apparently braised portobello mushrooms topped with mashed potatoes and Gruyere. "That's what I want. It sounds super yummy." She sat back after that, allowing Haywire a moment to browse himself before speaking up again. "Hay, you wanna play a game? Something called Two Truths and a Lie. It's where one person says two things about themselves that are the truth and one thing that's a lie, and the other ponies--or pony in this case, has to guess which one's the lie. Or... Something else if you can think of it? I just think that'd be a nice way to lift my mood, and pass the time."

Once Bubo landed on Star's shoulder, she greeted him with a gentle nuzzle before returning her attention to Hay, knowing it would just make the bird bashful for a moment. She then returned Haywire's nod when he began to trot down the street, gladly allowing him the lead as she followed behind. She then raised a brow silently when he made an about face, making her nearly run into him. Wrong way, apparently... but what the hay were 'Wier Roses'? He tested them, he said, so they couldn't have been proper roses. She almost wanted to ask, but part of her was worried that if she did, she'd distract Hay and they'd just wind up going down a wrong street once more. So instead she just followed behind him wordlessly, flapping her wings to carry her back up to pace with him when she fell behind.

When they reached the cafe soon after, she slowly gave it an appraising eye as she followed Haywire inside. It certainly looked fancy, but then she supposed it had to be if it was to contest with the other things in Canterlot. The insides were, thankfully, a lot more 'down-to-earth' than the outside. The dark colored walls, light wooden floors, and all-around decor gave it a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere, and the lights were kept just bright enough to keep things warm, but not blinding. She was a fan of this place, so far.

She kept her relaxed smile as one of the hosts approached the trio, though it almost imperceptibly faded--more losing more of its warmth than any of its visibility--as the host held up one of his hooves and began to list off things that the cafe didn't need to Haywire, tipping her off that he'd been there before and tried all that. While she could understand the stallion's hesitation, they were still customers. Star inhaled and tossed her head slightly, flipping her mane a bit more out of her eyes and onto her shoulder, smile brightening just a bit as if to try and disarm the stallion. "Come on now, that's not any way to treat customers, is it?" she cooed, reaching a hoof up to gently ruffle Haywire's mane. "Whatever Hay here's done in the past, well, that's all water under the bridge. So how about we start over again, mm?  We'd like a table for two, please~."

Star listened only half-heartedly to Hay as he responded, telling her about a cafe he knew of a few blocks away and describing it as best he could. At the mention of the cafe's name, a soft nod of recognition was given in response and she opened her mouth to correct him, only to stop herself when he kept on and asked her what she wanted to do. Her response at first was to slowly inhale before exhaling shakily, eyes closing. "Would you go back to the workshop and grab... I don't know, I guess ten bits for now... They're under the bed..." She spoke with a mumble, as if not quite wanting to speak just yet. "And meet me back here. I just... I need a-a little bit more time to recuperate."

She opened her eyes to watch him for a moment, wanting to offer him a small smile but failing miserable in doing so. Then, whether or not he actually left to do so,  her eyes closed again and she focused intently, mind returning to the psychiatrist she'd visited a while back on ways to handle her panic attacks. A.W.A.R.E. was the acronym she was told to remember: first being Acknowledge & Accept. She'd forgotten to accept the reality that she was afraid and starting to panic. She forgot to acknowledge that she was simply afraid, and not in danger, and that that was just another symptom of panic. She also forgot to accept the attack in the same way she might accept a headache; headaches sucked, but it didn't help to bang her head against the wall as that would only make things worse. Most of all, she forgot to accept the symptoms instead of resisting them--after all, the worst thing a panic attack could do to her was make her feel afraid.

Next was 'Wait & Watch'. She failed that step as well because she jumped into action much too quickly and didn't stop to think and just stand there. She succumbed to the panic attack and fled, making things worse for her, and now Haywire. The 'Watch' part was basically what she was doing now, reviewing what happened and how she'd reacted to it, and how she might be able to respond to it more effectively next time. She had that same odd sensation of depersonalization as she rested there against the building, feeling almost like she was watching herself as she recovered. It was something she'd never be able to explain properly to someone who'd never experienced something like that themselves.

The third step, 'Action', she'd failed almost utterly completely as well. She ran, instead of figuring out ways to overcome things then and there. She didn't 'belly breathe' as the psychiatrist called it, nor did she talk to herself. She didn't tell herself that it was fine to have an attack, to be afraid, and that it was a good chance to practice her coping techniques, nor did she answer her 'what if' fears by telling herself 'so what?' and that 'she'd get afraid, then she'd calm down again'. Or, most importantly, she didn't get involved in the present. She imagined horrible scenarios of the future, and just kept letting her thoughts run with those what ifs. Instead, she could have talked to Haywire, asked him about some of his other projects, or what his plans were... Maybe she'd write all this down for Haywire and Bubo to review later, to help give them a better idea of what she was going through, and how they might be able to help her out.

Fourth was 'Repeat'. While it didn't matter for that particular scenario, that step was there because there was always possibility for her to start feeling better--even as she laid there against the building--only to feel another wave of panic. The step was there to remind her it was okay if it happened, and to just take things from the top again.

Last was 'End'. The step was there to remind her that her panic attack would end, that all panic attacks end, that they end regardless of how they were responded to, and that her only job was making herself as comfortable as possible while waiting for the attack to end. After running these steps through her head, reviewing what all she had been told in the past, she slowly opened her eyes again and began to sweep her gaze about the area around her, finally feeling ready to stand back up and keep going about her day. Once Haywire returned, she actually managed to shine her usual relaxed smile to him as she pushed herself onto her hooves. "The café you were talking about earlier was La Fleur Rouge," she said, actually managing to decently nail the pronunciation. She might have made a decent Prench speaker, if she ever chose to pursue it. "Or the Red Flower. I've heard of it before, I think. It's supposed to be pretty nice. I'm ready to get going, if you are."

After rounding the corner, it didn't take much longer for Star to run before she stumbled to a stop and collapsed on the ground, legs folded underneath her as she clutched at her chest, breathing still labored. Despite the fact that her attack ensued and she still felt hopelessly agitated, the fresh, cool air of the day was at least a better atmosphere than what she felt was the crushing, stifling one of the workshop. Feelings of terror and anxiety continued to overwhelm her, and, not knowing when she'd stop feeling so wound up, she remained on the sidewalk, leaning against a building. If any ponies had stopped to approach and ask if anything was wrong, she either didn't notice or ignored them--even if it was Haywire.

This lasted for about another three or four minutes before she finally started to feel in control of herself again. Lifting her trembling hoof from her chest to her forehead, she wiped away the sweat that had accumulated as a result of her attack before glancing around--and finally, to Haywire. Her gaze lowered briefly in humiliation. "We've barely gotten to know each other and I've already had two attacks... I'm sorry, Hay... I just... got scared thinking about the workshop and how it might crush me. I really hate being mentally ill..." She paused for a brief second. "Is there... anywhere nearby to get some cold tea?"

At the very least, Haywire had a point when he said the building had yet to collapse on him, even though that was a small comfort. She still felt like it was highly possible for it to do so any time in the future. But, of course it hadn't been inspected. It was a little silly of her to ask. Something like that probably hadn't even crossed his mind. Making sure to remain still for Haywire, her thoughts continued to race around the idea of the workshop being unsafe, the probability of it coming down on top of her as she went about her day-to-day or even while she was sleeping, and the notion of being crushed and buried alive and suffocating before being able to be found.

Left to her own devices for long enough, Star's breathing grew lighter and quicker as she tuned out everything around her, her eyes wide and body trembling. With her second panic attack since nesting under Haywire's roof, Star remained unable to answer Haywire's question; in fact, unable to deal with the thought of staying under a roof that could collapse on her any longer, Star finally bolted for the front door, scrambling to get outside--and, once there, likely dart down the street and out of the workshop's view.

So... She was staying in a workshop that had been previously condemned... Her ears folded down a little bit at the thought as she glanced about, questioning for a moment the integrity of a building patched up by somepony unfamiliar with carpentry. This train of thought was only fueled as Bubo was struck by a piece of falling debris, the mare unable to help but swallow a bit nervously as she started to wonder if the whole place could come crashing down at any moment now that she knew its status.

"Yeah... I'm ready if you are," she replied distantly, sounding as if she was distracted as she spoke. She looked to him after however, seeming a little skittish. "You're, uh... You're sure this place is gonna hold up? Have you had anypony inspect it?"

At the mention of needing a notepad, Star immediately wandered over to a desk at the edge of the store, one of the few places she'd managed to clean up at that point in time, before opening up the desk's drawer. Giggling a little bit at Haywire's statement that she sounded like she knew her stuff, she withdrew a notepad and a pencil from inside to carry it back to Haywire as he started asking about his journals. She blinked for a moment, confused, before asking, "I didn't tell you where I put them...? I really thought I did... Well, whatever--they're all in that desk over there," she told him, pointing a hoof toward the desk she'd retrieved the notepad from.

"But yeah, I guess I do kinda know my stuff. I've been an assistant to lots of things and lots of ponies, like I said before... Not necessarily to a workshop like this, but I guess you could say similar. As for whether they've gotten on without me... I don't really know if all of them have, but I usually left to go onto something else when they were well on their way to achieving whatever it was they wanted to when I started helping, and when I found somepony else who needed my help." She paused for a second then, a thought crossing her mind. Unsure of why she hadn't asked this question yet since her time there, she asked, "Haywire, how long have you had this workshop? And how did you pay to have it built initially?"

Star hummed quietly as Haywire said that he didn't have any contacts like what she listed out, aside from maybe the ponies in the junkyard. With the legs, they couldn't afford to just 'hammer it out' and 'cut it up' as best they could, so she'd definitely need to find somepony that could handle something like that for them. The legs could hardly be called a success if they were unstable, or unsafe. Star then smiled as Hay asked if they should find those kinds of ponies, then mentioned that he didn't know how they'd start. She opened her mouth to respond before cutting herself short when he asked the question to Bubo, with much of the same response being given.

"Haywire, that's what I'm here for now, silly. I can take care of all the technical stuff you need done. Making and maintaining contact with ponies who can help you, finding more work for you, making sure you stay fed... that kind of thing. I am your assistant now after all, in case you've forgotten, and that's my job. I think I've heard there's a blacksmith around here in Canterlot, so I may actually go look into that after we're done here. And the blacksmith might know of a carpenter, so that's two for the price of one basically!" She fell silent for a little bit then, likely giving him some time to respond, before motioning with her head to the camera. "So is that a special invention of yours, or is it just a normal camera?"

Star continued to the door of the bedroom as Hay responded to her before stopping and leaning against the doorframe until he finished. Then, when she was told to let him get a bit organized first, she nodded and stepped into the bedroom before pausing for a moment, looking about to try and figure out where might be the best place to stash the bits. Finally deciding on beneath the bed, Star slid whatever container she'd used to house the bits under there as she told herself she'd need to get some kind of proper safe or vault later.

When that was finished, she returned from the bedroom and sought Haywire out, a question on her tongue. "Haywire, do you have any contacts for the workshop? I mean, I know you don't use magic or anything for your inventions, not even to enhance them or make them better, but... What about ponies like a carpenter, or a blacksmith? Or anything similar? Your work does involve needing a whole sortment of parts for your inventions, so don't you have anypony to make that stuff, or... offer you some sort of discount from where you usually get your stuff?"

Smiling warmly, Star took the bits from Jazz and looked around briefly for something suitable to store them in before doing so, making a mental note to stash them in the bedroom later so the machines didn't magically make them disappear as a "prank". Then, when Jazz decided on the four month plan, Star nodded once more, making another mental note to write down that amount down to store or pin somewhere as a reminder. "We can do a smaller percentage per month too--just give it some thought and let us know and we'll finalize it later on! Thank you very much for your business, miss Jazz; I'm excited to see what Hay cooks up. Farewell!" she says, waving to the mare.

Once Jazz left, Star turned to Haywire with a slight half-smile. "First talk of getting your Dream Thea--err, Thought Theater--out there to get your shop sponsored, and now some prosthetic legs... The legs are priority right now, of course, but this place is starting to pick up, it seems like. Now I just have to get the rest of the shop cleaned up," she joked, turning to carry the container of bits into the bedroom. "When are you going to need me to model for you?" she continued, just as playfully.

Nothing too fancy.

Star nodded once with a quiet hum when Jazz told her that her wife wasn't very outgoing, so she wanted something that was more sublte. She could work with that. She hoped. Discrete didn't sound like something that mechanical legs would fall under, but she'd try to come up with something to go somewhat along that description. When Jazz looked back to Star and asked how much she should pay up front and how they should handle the payments, Star gently bit her lip as she did some mental calculations for a moment, her gaze thoughtful. "Well... Fifteen percent of 400 would be sixty bits... So we could do that for a down payment; that should help get any initial supplies we might need and don't have--" She paused for a moment as she realized she unintentionally revealed their financial status to Jazz, if she'd been paying enough attention and was quick enough to catch it.

Clearing her throat, she tried continuing as smoothly as she could. "After that... Well, it shouldn't take too long for us to make them... Hopefully. Haywire is kind of a genius when it comes to this stuff," she said, smiling over to the stallion in question briefly before returning her attention to Jazz. "Assuming we're sticking with the four hundred bits budget... We could have you pay twenty five percent of the remainder a month, so eighty-five bits for four months... Or 170 for two months, if you want to get it out of the way quicker. Really, that part's up to you and we can decide that once the legs are finished."

She looked over to Haywire then before gently nudging against him to catch his attention in case it wasn't turned to the conversation at hoof. "I believe that's about it, unless you have anything else to add, Haywire?"

Quietly, Star listened as Jazz mentioned a couple of other things that might actually be beneficial for the legs during winter time, then nodded a bit in acknowledgement of the ideas and their usefulness. Then, Jazz asked about the best time for her to return to the shop to approve Star's drawings. She hummed for a moment, gaze wandering about in front of her before she looked back to Jazz and responded. "I could probably have some rough sketches drawn up in the next couple of days. So in two or three days? For the design... Do you think your wife would prefer something a little more simple, or something more showy and fancy?"

Star watched Jazz patiently as she waited for the mare to give her some kind of response. Couldn't have been easy, trying to balance cost with what she really wanted to get out of this gift for her wife, so Star was more than willing to give her all the time she needed. Once the mare finally decided on the price of four hundred, Star nodded slightly as she moved to fold up the sheet of paper. "Four hundred's our budget then. It's possible we'll be able to save you a few bits here and there, but... Well, we'll get it done~."

She then jumped a bit when Haywire popped out of the junk nearby and landed beside them, effectively startling her. She stared at him for a moment before sighing as he went on a tangent about ice skates, apparently still set on adding unnecessary things to the prosthetic limbs. As she opened her mouth to try and dissuade him however, Bubo chirped and drew their attention to the list. Unfolding it once more so that the range between three hundred and four hundred bits was visible, she held it a bit out to the side so he could take a better look at it.

This was followed by him saying there weren't any doo-dads on the list, resulting in a shake of her head as she looked over to him. "No, Haywire," she told him, gently but firmly. "If Jazz wanted something special, or extra like that, I have no doubt that she'd let us know. So we need to make the prosthetics... Well, just like functioning legs." She then returned her attention to the mare. "I'll chock up a drawing of possible we can add to the legs, and have you come by for a visit--or I can stop by for a visit, whichever--to see what you think. So if you have any ideas or get any ideas, I'm absolutely all for hearing them. But I believe we have all we need to get this underway. If you want me to stop by once I draw up some rough drafts, you'll need to leave me an adress I can visit. Otherwise, just come by whenever.

"Thank you for your business, miss Jazz."

Star's gaze fell a bit when Jazz denied having any kind of budget to work with. That'd make things a little bit more complicated, since she had no idea what parts would be used, or how long it would take Haywire to complete... As the mare asked Star what she thought the whole thing might end up being, she nervously and hesitantly bit her lip as she tried to conjure up a rough estimate. Thankfully, she didn't have to think very long; her gaze was diverted when she noticed Bubo raise his wing. She rose a brow inquisitively at the metal bird as if attempting vainly to encourage it to elaborate, despite it lacking vocal cords.

Moments later, when Bubo had disappeared into the workshop, Star jumped as things seemed to spring to life--first when the loud bang sounded off, then again when things whirred to life, though the second was much less pronounced. Unsure of what was going on, she simply glanced uncertainly to Jazz before shrugging in defeat and murmuring, "Guess we'll see" to the mare beside her when Hay ran off.

She stood awkwardly for the few moments between Hay's departure and Bubo's arrival, then offered a relieved and welcoming smile to the bird when he landed on Star's shoulder. She then took the scroll when Bubo offered it to her and waved Jazz to her side for the mare to join her in taking a look. With number projections in front of her, she felt like she had a much better grasp on the situation, and a clearer path for the way forward.

"So... It looks like our list here goes from cheapest to most expensive... Judging by the parts and mechanisms involved, the quality goes along with the price. So... basically you'd get what you paid for. I can't imagine with something as important as this, you'd want something of that quality, and you mentioned you can pay quite a bit, so..." she drew out as she folded the scroll so that the low-end options were out of sight, the paper now only displaying price ranges at or above the 250 bit mark. "This looks like it starts from the mid-way mark, to the luxury range. As we go higher though, please keep in mind that future repairs and maintenance will reflect its build cost.

"But, on the other hoof... We can also make the legs more aesthetically pleasing the more expensive we go. Incorporate some sort of... style, or design around whatever mechanics Haywire puts into the legs. If you can't think of anything, I'm sure I might be able to look into a few things for ideas and draw something up for you to approve later.

"As for the payment itself, no matter what route we go, the money doesn't have to be all paid up front. We could put a down payment on it, and then have you pay some amount we'll decide on later every month. So... With all of that in mind, do you see anything here that you think could fit what you wanted for her?"
