It only takes a few moments for Jazz to notice the latch on the outside of the window. She doesn't have time to wonder about who's decision it was to put the lock on the outside, as she spots a veritable tidal wave of gruyere sweeping toward the poor trapped mare. Jazz flings the window open just in time, the blue mare throwing herself out immediately and bowling Jazz over. The two of them tumble away from the window just in time to miss the splattering of cheese. Jazz has the wind knocked out of her by the accidental flying tackle, and for a few moments she lays with her hooves stuck in the air. From this position she has a pretty good view of what's happening with the monster (albeit the wrong way around). The creature seemed to have thankfully been distracted from chasing her by the appearance of a second gustatory abomination, though this one seemed to have something off about it... other than being a giant pile of living spaghetti. Jazz blinks and flips herself around, giving the no-longer-trapped mare a grin and then a shrug. She didn't have any more idea what was going on than her rescuee does, really. Out of danger for now, Jazz takes a few moments to observe just what is happening. The two monsters seem to just be flailing at each other for now. Above them, it seemed that the pegasus had recovered and was now hovering about shouting something at them, though Jazz can't quite make it out over the sound of giant monsters fighting and screaming bystanders. She spots a stallion that seems much more calm than the others as the rusty pegasus darts into the building, and turns to the other mare for a moment. "Come on!" She says, and starts heading over toward Dark Matter.

Once the older pony is in the relative safety of the coffee shop (with a few parting comments about whippersnappers or some such), Jazz takes a look around to see if anypony else needs help. Most of the bystanders have gotten out of the way by know, and at least one had apparently found the fallen cheese projectiles to irresistible to pass up having a few nibbles before scampering for cover. She did have to admit; looking at a nearby blob of mozzarella, marinara, and artichokes; it did look delicious... Maybe just a taste? No, no, not the time. Jazz shakes herself out of it and looks over at the delectable monster, just in time to see it swat a rusty-colored pegasus out of the air, but unfortunately not soon enough to have seen his dashing pose. He didn't seem hurt at least, rising up from the small crater he'd made, but he was clearly dazed, and much too close to the monster for Jazz's liking. She couldn't risk going in there to help him though, so she'd settle for distracting it long enough for him to get his wits about him. With a mighty toss of her magic, a plastic chair goes sailing toward the golem and colides with it's shoulder... and doing little more than denting it's crusty exterior. This is followed by several loud *pop*s, and one of the beverage sort, aimed around the creature's head. "Hey! You!" She calls, trying to get it's attention. "Goudoutahere!" She tries very hard to keep a straight face, but a few giggles slip out anyway as she takes off in the opposite direction of Darrus, the noises having been enough to draw the horrilicious monster's attention. She heads for the far side of the diner the beast had emerged from, now seemingly flooded with cheese, in the hopes of getting some cover from the blobs that keep being flung about. Unfortunately, she doesn't have much to throw over here, only being able to toss a couple loose rocks from the road, and a small-ish blob of it's own cheeses back at it. Jazz stops, thinking she's probably far enough away by now, thought the golem has finally fully wrenched itself free of the building by now, and has started lumbering forward. Thankfully it's not moving fast, and Jazz has time to notice the mare still stuck inside the diner, seemingly attempting to get the window open to escape the slowly rising sea of cheddar. She takes another look at the monster, then turns to help the mare get the window open.

Jazz takes a sip of her coffee, eyeing the bag of sweets she'd recently picked up at a new candy shop her friend had sworn she needed to try. It being in Ponyville hadn't bothered her much, the trip actually proving to be quite the nice break from the hustle and bustle of Canterlot. She takes another sip of he coffee and pulls the bag over to herself, looking inside at the various confections inside. She hasn't tried one just yet, but all of them look, and smell, delicious. But what would go well with the coffee? She sifts through the bag with her magic, trying to decide just which of the sweets to try first. Maybe one of the caramels? Or perhaps one of those white-chocolate mints? Decisions, decisions... The white-coated mare taps her hoof along with the music playing in the background as she thinks, idly sipping at her drink. She's just decided to try one of the dark chocolates with chili when a loud *boom* sounds from across the street, and Jazz drops the coffee cup in surprise, spilling it all over the table she's sitting at. Several nearby ponies bolt for the door of the coffee shop, almost as though they'd had practice doing such a thing. Jazz isn't quite so quick on the uptake, and so is one of those who remains outside, though not quite as panicked as the rest appear to be. Her surprise quickly turns to confusion at the mound of pastry and melty cheese spilling out of the hole in the wall. Which then started moving, rising up and beginning to thrash around, flinging bits of cheese and cooked vegetables all along the street. Jazz has to quickly duck to avoid a block of mozzarella sailing past her head as the delicious looking monstrosity begins to smash the remaining walls of the diner. She takes a moment to glance back at the coffee shop, where somepony had turned the sign in the door around to read "Closed" and several faces were peering out through the relative safety of the windows. Nearby, an elderly stallion has apparently not noticed the commotion, being too absorbed in a crossword puzzle and seemingly unable to hear. With another look at the rampaging baked goods, Jazz takes off toward the older pony, dodging around a few tables and chairs. She's almost reached him when a particularly large glob of cheese sails toward the still unsuspecting senior. Jazz only just manages to save him from a cheesy fate by tossing a chair into the way of the blob, knocking it aside just enough to merely splatter the table instead. This proves to be enough to finally get the stallion's attention, and he looks up and blinks several times at the sudden food-based monster attack. Jazz reaches him, quickly helping the older pony on toward the shop door and keeping a look out for any more dangerous (yet tasty) projectiles. All the while the stallion is mumbling something or other about "Monsters these days", with Jazz catching several "Back in my day"s and other complaints as they walk.

Jazz glances down at Clair for a moment now that Chord has left, going back to his book now. She thinks about moving off to look for any other books that might be interesting, but ends up staying put as Clair puts his hooves on the table, apparently about to try something. She doesn't quite jump when the spell causes the table to start shaking, making quite a bit of noise and bringing annoyed glances from some of the other library goers. Jazz gives a sheepish smile to a few of the nearby ponies then turns to Clair. "What kind of spell do you got there? I'm guessing it wasn't supposed to do that?"

Jazz nods to Star after she does a little bit of mental calculation. She'd anticipated that she may need to provide some payment up front, and had brought some money with her. She turns to reach into her saddlebag, not picking up on the other mare's slight slip up. She counts out sixty bits, and it turns out she has just enough. She holds out the coins with her magic and takes a glance over at Haywire, who hasn't really said much while they were discussing payment. The little stallion seems to be distracted by something, though the goggles make it a little bit hard to tell what he's focusing on. "I think I'll take the four month one. Will be easier to get the money together I think." She turns to look at Haywire when Star nudges him, giggling a bit at the list of things that apparently go into making something around here. "Great! I'll be back in a few days then, with a few photos for you to use."

Jazz nods at Star's suggestion to return in a few days, and thinks for a few moments at her question. "Hm... I don't think she'd want anything too fancy. She's... not very outgoing. I'm sure the legs will attract enough attention as it is, she wouldn't want anything that would draw even more attention." For a moment she frowns, then looks to Star hopefully. "Honestly they should be as discreet as possible." She looks over at Haywire with a grin and a small giggle. "That sounds great for the hooves. I think you should keep away from the heating system though..." She turns back to Star, her smile dropping as she changes to a more serious topic. "How should I handle payment? Do you want anything up front?"

"Oh, I'm sorry!" Jazz says, wincing at Chord's exclamation of being late for an interview. She hopes she hasn't kept the young mare for too long... "It was nice seeing you again too." She calls, ignoring the annoyed shushes she too gets from the other ponies. "Good luck!" She waves as the pegasus departs.

The sudden clattering draws Jazz's attention just in time for her to see Haywire soaring through the air over the mound of widgets and come to a perfect stop right beside them, as though he'd somehow planned it. The mare can't help but give a laugh, and claps her hooves enthusiastically at the inventor's return to the conversation. He then starts to talk about additions to the legs as though he hadn't even left, and while ice skates don't sound like something Thyme would enjoy, it does give her an idea. "Something for the winter isn't a bad idea, like an attachment to stop them sliding on ice maybe?" Jazz frowns slightly, looking off into space for a moment as she thinks. "She hates the cold too... Would you be able to add something to keep them warm in the winter? Or at least where they attach. Um..." She thinks for a few more moments, trying to decide if there really is anything else to add. Nothing comes to mind though, so she turns to Star. "When do you think I should come back? Getting a picture to go off of would be simple, so how long do you think it'll take you to make some sketches?"

Jazz watches Bubo fly off somewhere, curious as to what the little machine was doing. Seems to be something important, whatever it is. She looks over at Hay, wondering if he has anything to say about the price, but the little stallion just looks a bit lost. Jazz does jump a little bit herself when some machine somewhere suddenly springs to life, though it's just a slight startle. She notices that Star doesn't seem very comfortable with whatever is going on, and frowns slightly as Hay runs off. "Does this kind of stuff happen often?" She asks, trying to get a decent look at whatever was happening past the pile of gadgets, though she really can't see much of anything. She gives up after a few more moments when Bubo returns carrying a sheet of paper, and steps in when Star motions her closer to take a look. Most of the list was complete nonsense to her, the names of all the bits and pieces that might be used for construction not really meaning anything to the white unicorn. The prices catch her eye though, and even as Star is explaining she begins making some mental math about what she's able to pay for. She could likely do the 250 bit one just out of savings, but above that she may indeed have to take up the offer of monthly payment. She supposes she could borrow some money from her parents if she really needs too, though Jazz would really prefer not to. Thyme would likely be fine with them even at the most basic as long as they even kind of function properly, but... Jazz would really like to get the best thing she could. The mare bites her lip as she looks over the listed prices. The highest prices on the list were likely too much to justify, even if she could get the money for it. Most likely she'd be looking at something in the 300 to 400 range. "I think..." Jazz says, after a couple more moments of thought. "I could go as high as 400. I wish I could do more but I'm not made of money..."

Jazz nods at Chord's answer, looking down at Clair for a moment when he stops tapping and leans against her. She hopes they do play that one, though even if they don't the concert's sure to be great. She looks back at Chord with a smile. "Yeah, he's alright, just a little unused to the attention I think."

Jazz nods in thanks to Haywire as he helps pull her out of the pile of gadgets, and gives a giggle at his applause. She makes a shallow mock bow and then takes a moment to stretch out her limbs. "Yeah, I'm alright. Not the worst spill I've had." She looks down at the little robot in her hooves when Hay moves to stick his head into the pile of debris. She gives a muttered "Whoops." at the revelation that the device is not still holding the exoskeleton, though she still doesn't release it from her hold. She watches the little green stallion pull the exoskeleton out to lay between the three of them. "She's not very big, probably about the same size you are." She taps her hoof against the peanutbot a few times, pausing to think. "I can find a picture to bring in, no problem. Do you think you'll be able to do it off just that? I'd like it to be a surprise if possible..." She glances down at the exoskeleton, a bit unsure just what kinds of things you could fit into a set of legs. "I didn't really consider anything other than just getting the legs, and I'm not sure if she'd really like any of that stuff..." Jazz trails off, looking over toward Star when she starts talking over Hay's rambling. "I figured this wouldn't be cheap. As for a budget... I'm really not sure. I should be able to pay for quite a bit, but do you have any idea how much it might end up being?"

Jazz keeps her eye on the the thing moving beneath the piles of gizmos as best she can, though it's a bit hard to track it's movements in places. Still, she positions herself in a spot that seems like it will have to pass if it manages to avoid both Haywire and Star. Unless it can somehow pass through the large rectangular something-or-other a little to her side. She keeps focused on the movement as Haywire pops back out of the pile for just a moment before retreating, and then, somehow, appearing in an entirely different pile. Despite the little green stallion's disregard for the general rules of reality, Jazz remains focused on peanut-beetle thing scurrying around with the exoskeleton. She can't help but giggle a little at Haywire's repeated attempts to capture the device. She wonders if this kind of thing happens often around here. Jazz readies herself to lunge for the little machine as it avoids Haywire's grasp one more time, though it heads for Star rather than her. Getting prepared turns out to have been a good idea though, as the peanut swerves away from the pegasus' pounce and heads right toward Jazz. The white unicorn is not as spry as she used to be, and when the thing darts towards her she's a little too slow to dive for it, barely missing as it scuttles away toward another pile of gadgets, clearly attempting to get back out of view. Jazz manages to get her hooves under herself again and takes off after the delinquent robot, knocking a few of the other machines aside in her effort to catch it. She manages to catch up just as it's about to disappear into the pile, and with no other options, dives for it again. Her hooves are mere inches away when she careers into the small mountain of machinery, and the whole thing comes tumbling down around her and the fleeing machine. For a few moments the mechanical odds and ends shift about, settling down into their new shape. Then a pair of hooves bursts upwards out of the top, the little robot grasped between them flailing it's legs and whirring it's wheels in a vain attempt to escape. "I got it!" Jazz yells, her head popping out of the pile as well and the mare grinning widely. Unfortunately, though she wasn't hurt by the cascade of doodads, she's not as adept at moving through them as Haywire is, and it takes her a good thirty seconds to extract herself, during which time she very nearly loses her grip on the wayward robot. She does manage to regain her grip just in time and pulls herself fully out of the pile. She gives a giggle and faces the other two. "Right, so now what do we need to do?"

Jazz nods slightly as Samiel says he has more research to do, and that he has to leave. "It was nice to meet you too, thanks for inviting us. See you then!" She waves as the red pegasus walks off, then looks over at Chord when the young mare starts humming softly. While she didn't recognize the tune just from the light tapping Clair was doing, she knows what it is now that Chord has joined in. "That's a good one." She comments. "Do you know if they're planning to play it at the concert?"

Jazz briefly glances over in the direction Haywire had indicated at his mention of a "portable sun generator". While she has no idea which of the devices over there it could be, it sounds pretty interesting. Maybe she'll ask about it a bit later. She looks back at Haywire in time to see him dive straight into a pile of gadgets and managing to go right through it like he'd jumped into a pool. The white unicorn giggles softly. Seems like a useful talent to have in a place like this. As Star moves off to begin her own search, Jazz remains where she is, unsure if she should try to help out. Well... They probably know the place well enough, so she turns to just looking around at the gizmos and gadgets littering the workshop. She has no idea what most of them could be for, though a couple she might be able to take a guess at. There was some kind of giant dough mixer machine past the pile Haywire had jumped into, though it has a few strange odds and ends sticking off of it in places. A little to her right was what looks like an ordinary potted plant, nestled among the doodads piled on a table, and she was almost sure it wasn't there when she'd arrived. Before she can investigate and possibly reveal it as a well disguised sprinkler or perhaps a floral invader from another dimension, Star speaks up about having found the exoskeleton, and that something was trying to keep it away from her. Jazz trots over toward the other mare, trying to spot whatever it is. She can definitely see something shifting around underneath and around the machines, though she has difficulty making out what it is. "Is there anything I can do to help?" She asks, keeping her eye on the moving object and coming to a stop near Star.

Jazz grins at Haywire's suggestion of a super chair. It's not what she has in mind, but the mental image of Thyme in a super chair is amusing nonetheless. At his next question she shakes her head. "No, she's a unicorn." She says, looking over at Star when Hay turns to talk to her. While she doesn't pay much mind to the sudden quaver in Haywire's voice, she does notice his blush and giggle when the mare nuzzles him. Well, that was cute. Jazz wonders if they're a couple. Though... if they are it's unusual for him to respond like that. It made it look more like he has a crush. She giggles softly. She knows it's not really any of her business, but they would be so cute together... Putting that aside for the moment, she nods at Star's guess that amphibious super chairs and mechanical wings weren't what she'd had in mind. "At the dance you mentioned you were working on an..." She pauses to think for a moment. "Exoskeleton, I think you called it? It got me thinking that that's kind of like a mechanical limb. And then I heard about Bubo from Clarity. That got me pretty excited because if you can make a whole bird, surely you can do just a couple limbs right?" She gives the trio a hopeful smile. "And that's what I had in mind, replacement limbs. Do you think you can do that?"
